The advantages of STRAILway polymer sleepers

Advantages for rail operators, construction companies and planners
STRAILway sleepers are made from high-quality recycled polymer and contain no synthetic resins or steel reinforcements. This saves resources, reduces weight, and improves the environmental footprint. Thanks to their homogeneous structure, they can be easily cut, milled, planed, or drilled using standard tools—without any health risks for workers. All machining residues are 100% recyclable.
STRAILway is the perfect alternative to wooden sleepers: resistant to rot, pests, and moisture, they require no environmentally harmful preservatives. With a service life of over 50 years and the option for on-site or custom machining, planning and installation can be carried out flexibly and efficiently. The sleepers are designed for axle loads of up to 22.5 t and boast exceptional longevity thanks to their resistance to chemicals, UV radiation and ozone.
Whether as a track sleeper, turnout sleeper up to 13 meters long or bridge beam: STRAILway offers a durable, economical, and easy-to-install solution for all applications—tested, certified, and sustainable.

Benefits for the environment, occupational safety and life cycle costs
Railway sleepers made from recycled polymer actively contribute to environmental protection. They replace impregnated wooden sleepers, which often contain creosote, helping to safeguard the soil and reduce hazardous substances on construction sites. Machining is safe for workers as no harmful volatile pollutants are released.
STRAILway sleepers are not only durable but also 100 % recyclable—both at the end of their service life and from any machining residues. This reduces environmental impact while also significantly lowering disposal costs. Their excellent aging resistance, low thermal expansion, and favorable vibration characteristics minimize maintenance and reduce long-term operating costs. Thanks to their versatility, STRAILway polymer sleepers can be used in nearly all track structures, from main lines to industrial tracks and tunnels. With a longer service life, low lifecycle costs, and an impressive carbon footprint, they represent a forward-looking solution for modern railway infrastructure.
